Theory and operation
The inverter switches pack DC into controlled motor phase current and uses resolver or position feedback for torque production.
Drive & Regeneration / Diagnostic guide
Separate electrical permission, power conversion, rotor position, thermal state and mechanical load.
Use this guide to organize evidence. Vehicle-specific high-voltage access, measurements and component isolation require OEM procedures, appropriate qualifications, rated PPE and approved test equipment.
GUIDE PURPOSE
Confirm vehicle state, operating conditions and the full DTC record before clearing evidence or opening the high-voltage system.
The inverter switches pack DC into controlled motor phase current and uses resolver or position feedback for torque production.
Compare torque request, inverter enable, DC-link voltage, phase-current summaries, resolver status, temperatures, speed and isolation DTCs.
Verify mechanical freedom, cooling and network permissions before following OEM phase, resolver or insulation tests.
Do not directly scope HV motor phases or insulation-test an inverter-connected motor unless the OEM procedure expressly permits it.
Specifications, connector access, disable sequences, wait times and allowable tests vary by model and voltage architecture.
