Theory and operation
Regeneration depends on battery charge acceptance, temperature, traction, vehicle speed and ABS/ESC coordination; friction brakes fill the remaining demand.
Drive & Regeneration / Diagnostic guide
Understand brake blending and the limits that can reduce regeneration without a fault.
Use this guide to organize evidence. Vehicle-specific high-voltage access, measurements and component isolation require OEM procedures, appropriate qualifications, rated PPE and approved test equipment.
GUIDE PURPOSE
Confirm vehicle state, operating conditions and the full DTC record before clearing evidence or opening the high-voltage system.
Regeneration depends on battery charge acceptance, temperature, traction, vehicle speed and ABS/ESC coordination; friction brakes fill the remaining demand.
Compare pedal request, requested/actual regenerative torque, battery charge-power limit, wheel slip, brake pressure and blending status.
Reproduce the complaint with a known SOC and temperature, then identify the active inhibit or limiting controller.
Do not judge regeneration solely from dashboard animation or compare vehicles under different battery conditions.
Specifications, connector access, disable sequences, wait times and allowable tests vary by model and voltage architecture.
