Theory and operation
The pack stores energy; contactors connect it; precharge limits inrush; the inverter converts DC/AC; the DC-to-DC supports 12 V; the onboard charger converts AC input.
Battery & High Voltage / Diagnostic guide
Understand each major HV component’s job, inputs, outputs and diagnostic boundary.
Use this guide to organize evidence. Vehicle-specific high-voltage access, measurements and component isolation require OEM procedures, appropriate qualifications, rated PPE and approved test equipment.
GUIDE PURPOSE
Confirm vehicle state, operating conditions and the full DTC record before clearing evidence or opening the high-voltage system.
The pack stores energy; contactors connect it; precharge limits inrush; the inverter converts DC/AC; the DC-to-DC supports 12 V; the onboard charger converts AC input.
For every component, compare commands, permissions, feedback, temperatures, isolation contribution and network state rather than relying on one DTC.
Use the component-location and power-flow diagrams to determine what is upstream, downstream and still energized after disable.
Component identification is not authorization to open, probe or insulation-test it.
Specifications, connector access, disable sequences, wait times and allowable tests vary by model and voltage architecture.
