Theory and operation
A DC charger performs power conversion off-board; the vehicle negotiates limits, closes contactors and continuously supervises isolation and temperature.
Charging Systems / Diagnostic guide
Diagnose the direct-to-battery charging path and its higher communication and thermal demands.
Use this guide to organize evidence. Vehicle-specific high-voltage access, measurements and component isolation require OEM procedures, appropriate qualifications, rated PPE and approved test equipment.
GUIDE PURPOSE
Confirm vehicle state, operating conditions and the full DTC record before clearing evidence or opening the high-voltage system.

Capture station status, requested versus delivered voltage/current, pack limits, inlet temperature, communication state and stop reason.
Compare more than one compatible station when practical, then determine whether the limit comes from infrastructure, negotiation, battery or thermal protection.
Never assume an AC-charging success proves the DC path, or vice versa.
Specifications, connector access, disable sequences, wait times and allowable tests vary by model and voltage architecture.
