CAN Resistance Testing
Use resistance measurements as part of CAN diagnosis
Important
Resistance testing should be performed with the circuit powered down and according to appropriate service information.
Typical High-Speed CAN
Two 120-ohm terminating resistors in parallel produce approximately 60 ohms when measured across the network.
- Approximately 60 ohms can indicate both terminators are present
- Approximately 120 ohms can indicate one terminator or network leg is missing
- Very low resistance can indicate an unwanted short or additional resistance path
