Voltage Drop Testing
Locate excessive resistance in automotive circuits
Overview
Voltage drop testing measures voltage lost across a component, connection, cable, or section of wiring while current is flowing.
Procedure
A basic voltage drop test includes:
- Operate the circuit under load
- Place the meter across the section being tested
- Read the voltage difference
- Move through the circuit to isolate excessive resistance
