Correct theory and operation

HOW GMSL / FPD-LINK
COMMUNICATES.

Understand the normal architecture, signaling and message rules before deciding that a voltage or waveform is incorrect.

01

Serialization

The serializer embeds pixel data, timing and control information into a high-speed differential stream.

02

Link management

The deserializer monitors lock, error counters and remote-control communication while supplying or receiving power as designed.

Common mistakes

AVOID THE
FALSE CLUE.

Reading the signal

Good waveform / normal communication

The specified serializer/deserializer link locks reliably and transfers valid video or display data. Use approved link-status, error-counter and physical-layer tests matched to the installed interface.

Faulty waveform / fault indications

Intermittent lock, corrupted video or rising error counts can indicate cable, connector, power, shielding or endpoint problems. A generic scope trace cannot establish high-speed link quality; use the bandwidth and test points required by the interface.

COMPLETE TEST SEQUENCE

  1. Verify module power and ground.
  2. Check coax or pair routing and shield condition.
  3. Read link-lock and error status.
  4. Substitute only approved cable or endpoint components.
IDENTIFY BEFORE YOU MEASURE

Confirm the network, topology, awake state and test conditions from vehicle-specific information.
