Controlled output
Releases the trunk or hatch latch under body-controller command.
Body & comfort / TRUNK
Releases the trunk or hatch latch under body-controller command.
Correct theory and operation
Separate controller command, loaded circuit behavior and useful mechanical or thermal output.
Releases the trunk or hatch latch under body-controller command.
Identify the installed actuator and driver from vehicle-specific service information. Test only the applicable circuit; different constructions require different connections and equipment.
Current rise, running level, commutation and turn-off behavior expose winding condition, resistance and mechanical loading.
Position, pressure, speed, temperature or current feedback may be separate from the actuator circuit and must agree with command.
Common mistakes
For a solenoid, current rises with the command according to winding inductance, supply and any driver current limiting. Compare repeated events and confirm the expected mechanical or hydraulic response.
Missing current, an unusually steep or shallow rise, or irregular limiting can indicate an open circuit, resistance, supply loss, shorted turns or driver behavior. Mechanical sticking can occur with a normal electrical pattern; command, current and output must be compared.
COMPLETE TEST SEQUENCE
Know the driver design, current limit, feedback circuit and safety consequences before applying external power.
Identify the installed design before testing. Construction, signal format and redundant channels are separate attributes; use only the procedure for the actual component.
