Controlled output
Meters refrigerant through the battery chiller.
HVAC & thermal / EXV
Meters refrigerant through the battery chiller.
Correct theory and operation
Separate controller command, loaded circuit behavior and useful mechanical or thermal output.
Meters refrigerant through the battery chiller.
Identify the installed actuator and driver from vehicle-specific service information. Test only the applicable circuit; different constructions require different connections and equipment.
Current rise, running level, commutation and turn-off behavior expose winding condition, resistance and mechanical loading.
Position, pressure, speed, temperature or current feedback may be separate from the actuator circuit and must agree with command.
Common mistakes
The commanded phase sequence and winding currents should agree with the specified direction and stepping strategy. Compare phases using the approved connections and confirm actual movement; commanded steps are not necessarily measured position.
A missing phase, unequal winding current or incorrect sequence can indicate a winding, supply or driver issue. A stalled or binding mechanism can lose position while commands continue. Verify mechanical movement and initialization before condemning the motor.
COMPLETE TEST SEQUENCE
Know the driver design, current limit, feedback circuit and safety consequences before applying external power.
Identify the installed design before testing. Construction, signal format and redundant channels are separate attributes; use only the procedure for the actual component.
